Roda Golf and Beach Resort is located in the town of San Javier in the Murcia region. The course was designed by the world famous architect Mr Dave Thomas.
The layout of the course is stunning with its lush green fairways and beautiful greens. And of course it’s signature hole with island green. It’s hard not to fall in love with this place.
A course for experienced golfers
I always recommend Roda Golf to the mid – high handicap golfer as it’s a feel good factor course in my opinion but don’t be mistaken by thinking it’s an easy course. With water in play on holes 7, 9, 12, 13, 14, 18 and bunkers strategically placed on every hole it can be tricky at times.
An overview of the front nine holes of Roda Golf Rosort
The front nine are tougher than the back nine and therefore will define whether you have a good round or one to forget!
The greens on the front nine are smaller therefore your approach shots must be accurate or you will find trouble.
Hole 4 is stroke index 1 for a good reason. The fairway is narrow and my advice is to stay centre or to the right side of the fairway. Or there is a good chance you will find sand and your approach shot will be blind! Stay right and you will have a mid to long iron into a narrow green which is heavily protected at the front by bunkers for those who come up short! Par is a great score on this hole but I don’t grumble with a bogey.
The fifth is a very easy par 5 with two good shots you can easily be putting for eagle.
Hole 7 is picturesque with palm trees surrounding the tee and a beautiful island green. You can hit anything from a 4 iron to PW on this par 3 depending on wind direction.
And the back nine holes
The back nine holes are more open and this is where birdies can be made especially on holes 10, 14, 15, 16, & 17.
Hole 10 is a par 5, stroke index 18. With a wide open fairway and only bunkers up the left. The key is to keep your drive and second shot to the right side of the fairway and you have a great chance of birdie!

The course is always in great condition and with reasonable prices you can enjoy Roda Golf all year round due to the warm climate we have here in Murcia.

The Resort has all the facilities such as driving range, practice greens, pro shop and changing rooms. The restaurant with its terrace overlooking the course is a great place to relax after golf.
How do you get there and the surroundings?
The resort is situated not far from the town of Los Alcazares and the Mar Menor with it’s beautiful beaches, bars and restaurants. The Mar Menor is the biggest man made salt lagoon in Europe and has special minerals in the water that help sooth aches and pains. Water sports are also available here all year round. This region is also famous for producing wine. There are regular tours to some of the best wine producing areas in the region which is a must if your a wine connoisseur!
